A 12-year-old girl was reported missing from San Leandro on Sunday triggering a special missing-persons alert for , according to California Highway Patrol authorities.

An Ebony Alert was activated on behalf of the Alameda County Sheriffs Office for EMari Hay. A post on the social media platform X described Hay as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

An Ebony Alert allows law enforcement agencies to inform the public about the suspicious or unexplainable disappearance of a Black woman or Black person in the hope that they are found quickly.

Hay was last seen on Sunday around 8 p.m. near 163rd Avenue and Helo Drive in San Leandro. Authorities said she was last seen wearing a black shirt, red and white pajama pants and pink Crocs. She is believed to be on foot, according to the CHP alert.
