More than half a million people were left without power as the storm swept through the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday night.

The Bay Area is on the southern edge of the area expected to be affected. A flood watch was in effect Wednesday for parts of the North Bay, and the National Weather Service also warned of high winds in much of the Bay Area, with gusts up to 50 mph.

A winter storm warning was issued for the northern Sierra Nevada, and the entire eastern front of the Sierra was under a red-flag warning for critical fire conditions into Wednesday evening.
