CARSON Authorities are seeking the publics assistance in identifying the person responsible for a hit-and-run crash that killed a 54-year-old woman in Carson.

Cherise Johnson was struck on Aug. 31 shortly after 6:05 p.m. at the corner of Del Amo Boulevard and Tillman Avenue as she was walking southbound in the intersection before being hit by a vehicle traveling westbound on Del Amo Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department.

The Carson City Council voted unanimously on Nov. 6 to approve a $25,000 reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of the person responsible for Johnsons death.

We sympathize with the victims family and hope that this reward will assist in expediting the identification, arrest, and conviction of those who caused this tragedy, Carson Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes said in a statement released Friday.

This couldve happened to anyone. Im calling on all of our Carson family. If anyone has information to assist the Carsons Sheriffs Station, please come forward.

Sheriffs officials said witnesses of the collision stated that the vehicle was a white SUV.
